JUST ENOUGH for The Journey - "Go your way; your son lives"

Let me tell you about a man who has not been mentioned as a Christian, has not been to a church service but was a man of means and authority. Yet we hear of this man walking some 20 miles to seek Jesus because this man has a serious concern...his son is dying.

Now I'm sure that He has tried everything that he could. He probably brought his son to the best doctors, had access to the latest and greatest equipment of that time, and would indeed spend his wealth for the healing of his son...but his son is still dying.

However, someone in his life, perhaps a family member, a friend or a coworker told him about Jesus. He heard about this man who could perform the miraculous. This man Jesus has healed the blind, the lame walked, the deaf could hear and Evil spirits were being cast out!

So he leaves the bedside of his dying son uncertain if his son will still be alive whenever he returns. His heart aches and his heart is broken over the condition of his son. He sets out to find this man Jesus with the weight of the world on his shoulders. He's tried everything else and he has tried everyone else...time is running out.

When the man finally finds Jesus, he begged Him to come heal his son who was close to death. Jesus replied, "Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, you will never believe." Persistent, the man says again to Jesus, "Sir, come down before my child dies." Jesus replied, "Go your way; your son lives."

The man took Jesus at His Word and simply departed. He didn't ask another question and he didn't force Jesus to accompany him back to his home, he had no magical elixir, no pills or any sort of remedy for his son. All he had was FAITH...ALL HE DID WAS BELIEVED.

Application: What are YOU willing to do for YOUR family? Our children are dying in our streets and in our very homes every day. You've tried counseling, therapy and intervention but the issues persist. Your friends can't help and no amount of money can chase away the illness, the drugs or the lifestyle that our children are being consumed by.

Now, you have heard about this man Jesus. Will you seek Him to heal the premature death that is all around us? Will you seek Him to get our kids off of the streets and off of drugs? Will you seek Him with your whole heart for any situation that you or your loved ones are facing on today?

Why this guy and why this post? This story allows us to know that miracles do happen. This story shows that Jesus has compassion for both the Sinner and the Saint. This story shows the supremacy of Christ over every disease, every disorder and every sickness. This story is not about this man nor is it about us...it's ALL ABOUT JESUS and His perfect love for all who seek Him.

The takeaway is that we don't have to travel 20 miles on foot, we just need to seek Jesus with sincere hearts right now and right where we are.  When we do, watch for the move of God in our life and the lives of our loved ones.

"Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!” Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” So the father knew that it  was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household." (John 4:50-53 NKJV)
