Gideon's Problem is Our Problem!

God isnt put off because of our depleted or defeated life. God is pleased to find those of us in our depleted state, because God can always do something with depleted people. God sees our potential. He sees what we can be, not what we are. He sees what we can accomplish by depending on His resources instead of our own human inadequacy.

Can God do anything with you? You better believe that He can! What makes us feel that He can't is our worldly self-image and perceptions that we place upon ourselves. Our worldly self-image is utterly false. A godly self-image says (along with the apostle Paul), “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Nothing is impossible for those who live in obedience and dependence on the power of God.

Gideon's problem was lack of competence and confidence. Gideon had a "Who me?" mentality. Those things that are most intimidating are those things that we convince ourselves that we cannot do or obtain.

God chose a weak and frightened man, a man who was hiding from the Midianites, a man who had very little self-esteem and self-confidence – and God gave this man a vision of what he could become: a mighty man of valor. Why did God choose Gideon? He chose this man specifically so that the people of Israel would know that it was the hand of God that delivered them, not human brains or brawn.

God can work miracles through you if you feel powerless. If you go to God and say, “Lord, I have nothing to offer but my obedience,” then watch out! You will be amazed to see what He can do with you.
