During our noontime Bible study yesterday, we talked about Hope and Grace. I shared that although we start out with good intentions, sometimes our faith falters. When this happens, we tend to place tons of guilt on ourselves, and when we do that, we move further away from God because of our self-imposed guilt and unworthiness.
Know this, just because we messed up, it doesn't necessarily mean that we've failed. When Peter's faith wavered, he reached out for Jesus. Yes, he was afraid. Yes, he doubted. Yes, he took his eyes off of Christ and instead, he looked at his situation. But again, HE REACHED OUT FOR JESUS!
You see, although we are lured away by life events, although we may have taken our eyes off of Jesus for some time, although we haven't been to church in a while and although we have become doubtful, I need for us to know that we, just like Peter, can REACH OUT FOR JESUS!
When you become apprehensive about troubles all around you and doubt Christ's presence or ability to help, remember that He is ALWAYS with you and is the ONLY One who can really help!
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:31 NIV)
